Once it has aggro on you it will eventually start the impregnation animation even though you're mounted - quickly jump off in order for the attack to connect. If you're not using a trap, tank the Reaper Queen's blows with your Drake until it roars, at which point you'll quickly jump off and hit it with something low damage to get aggro, then hop back on. Nooblets made a decent, if expensive, trap design - just completely ignore the part where he uses a Ballista and Charge Lantern, IMO. If you're using a trap, you can stand at the end of it and tank the Queen's blows with your shield until it impregnates. The animation itself is easy to recognize - it bends over and sniffs you, whips its tail around and grabs you with it, then impales you and brings you to critically low HP.

At this point you have to figure out how to tank it until it begins the impregnation animation. Once the Queen is a bit beneath 2k health, switch off all sources of charge light and wait for it to gain a red aura - this is the indication that it's willing to impregnate you. You can use a Magnifying Glass while riding a Drake, so use it to carefully monitor the Queen's health so you don't accidentally kill it. Hit the Queen with a source of charge light and attack it with your drake until it gets beneath 2,000 health. The impregnation mechanic is fairly straightforward. If using a Trap, I also recommend making a Large Bear Trap to snare the Queen while you close it in, as they're very fast. Supplies you'll need include a charge pet, quite a few Reaper Pheromone Glands (acquired by killing Reaper Queens), Healing Brews, a magnifying glass (to monitor the Reaper Queen's hit points), multiple sets of Hazard Suits (especially if using primitive quality), multiple riot shields or high quality metal shields, stimulants (in case a mistake is made and you get hit by the Queen's tail barbs), and combat Drake with good HP/Melee and preferably a high quality saddle. Personally I wouldn't go for anything below level 130 or so. Closing it off with a double set of dino gates works best so that the baby doesn't escape when you try to open the door.įor the impregnation/birth, you'll have to find a suitable Reaper Queen.
